A proposal by Senator Pat Toomey, supported by Senators Jim DeMint, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio, Ron Johnson, David Vitter, Tom Coburn, Richard Burr, and James Risch is set to balance the budget in 10 years.
However, unlike Rep. Paul Ryan’s proposal, it does not reform major entitlements.
Senator DeMint commented on Toomey’s proposal:
“We felt as a group it was important for us to show, as senators, it was possible to balance the budget within 10 years,” said DeMint. “They want to see the political will that we can balance our budget.”
Rubio came out in defense of Toomey’s proposal daring Democrats to come out with a proposal instead of talking points.
“I hope when they email you their talking points they also email you their budget proposal…I believe these proposals should be met by counterproposals.”
Here is Rubio promoting Toomey’s plan and why it’s necessary.

Gov. Scott Walker on Wisconsin leaping 17 spots in annual business rankings
In an interview with Fox News’ Fox & Friends, Governor Scott Walker reacts to a recent survey that moves the state of Wisconsin 17 spots up in a survery of CEOs ranking of the best places to do business.
Walker, who has garnered national attention for his union reforms, making it into a national debate, declared that this is great news for the state.
He attributes this move up because of reductions to “overall burden of doing business in our state by lowering taxes, regulations, litigations, and health care costs.”
Rep. Paul Ryan: “If you want to raise the debt limit a dollar, you’ve got to cut spending a dollar”
The next national debate will be set on whether or not to raise the debt ceiling.
If you want to raise the debt limit a dollar, you’ve got to cut spending a dollar.”
Sen. Rand Paul defends right-to-work states
Senator Rand Paul came to the defense of South Carolina and Governor Nikki Haley on challenging the president to answer about NLRB accusation against Boeing.
The NLRB accuses Boeing of retaliating against unionized workers in Washington state by building a production plant for its new Dreamliner plane in the right-to-work state of South Carolina.
Paul even asks if this is all politically motivated against states that are right-to-work and vote mostly Republican.
Transcript from The Hill:
“I have a question for the president. Mr. President, do you have an enemies list? Is this decision based on the fact that South Carolina appears to be a Republican state, has two Republican senators? Is this decision based on the fact that South Carolina is a right-to-work state? Are they on your enemies list?” Paul said…
“Will you now punish contractors who have given money to Republican candidates?” Paul asked.
Paul rattled off several other states, including Kentucky, Alabama and Texas, that he said could fall under the administration’s cross-hairs for voting Republican in the last election.
“Are we going to use the whole power and bully nature of government to say that business cannot be located in a state that might happen to vote Republican?” Paul said. “I find this appalling and I respectfully ask the president to immediately rescind this assault on business.”
This clip from Fox News includes Senator Paul and Senator Jim DeMint’s comments, and analysis from Dana Perino.

Senator Rand Paul appeared on Neil Cavuto’s show to discuss details about his budget plan, spending cuts, and his comments on the Boeing dispute.
When it comes to the spending in Washington, Paul said Republicans and Democrats have been on a “drunken spending spree” for many years. It’s time to get things resolved. Paul talked about his much applauded five-year budget plan, which is also ambitious.
Paul also responded on whether or not Republicans will reform Medicare which some people fear the GOP won’t take on.
The Kentucky Senator also weighed in on the Boeing dispute.
As he told Gretchen Carlson on Fox & Friends, the state of Ohio has lost more jobs than any other state aside from California and Michigan in the last 10 years.
He is now installing reforms, cutting the size of the budget and government, and getting Ohio to be a pro-business state to make it a competitive state once again.
